To Blog or Not to Blog?
Should we start a Blog on our website? That's a question we're asking in our office. Why? Well, you could say "because everybody's doing it" but usually you need a better reason than that. Otherwise, someone might say to us, "If everybody jumped off a bridge, would you do it?"
A better reason than that might be to say we want to better communciate with you, our audience -- the parents, students and teachers that make Lone Star State Scholars come to life each year. It allows us an avenue to post thoughts, news, and ideas that would be relevant to the Scholars in grades 3-8. Perhaps it's a story we read that others may enjoy. Perhaps it is some relevant news. Perhaps it is simply a joke we found really funny. We could share it with you.
But before we say "yes," we want to hear your ideas. Is this a good idea? A bad idea? What would you want to hear about? What would you find interesting to read in a Blog? Should we invite a Scholar or a parent or a teacher to be a blogger for everyone to read? In today's age of rapid technology, anything is possible.
Let us know your thoughts. We look forward to your thoughts and ideas. Simply reply to this email or use the address noted to the right.
Thanks -- have a great President's Day!

News from our Scholars:
Marianna E. Riojas, a fourth grader at Lamar Elementary in Del Rio participated in the annual school science fair. In the past, Mariana has placed second and gotten ribbons for her work.
Ian Braxton, a fourth grader at American Heritage Academy in Carrollton, Texas, achieved the "Principal's Honor Roll" (straight A's) and received the "Cut Above" award for his second nine weeks of school.
Kelsey Titus, a fourth grader at St. Mary of the Purification Montessori School in Cypress writes: ”I had a great holiday and I hope everyone did too. The day after Christmas my family and I flew to Albuquerque, New Mexico to go skiing and snowboarding. Our first day in Albuquerque, we spent walking around one of the outside malls to get used to the temperature and the altitude. It was cold. The next day we went up to Sandia Peak and played in the snow. My brother, sister and I had a snow fight against my mom and dad. We even rolled down the mountain in the snow. That was fun. We also got to eat at this restaurant named the "High Finance Restaurant" which was located on top of the mountain. Riding the tramway up to the mountain was a little scary especially when the wind was blowing really hard and the tram started to sway. My dad drove us to Santa Fe to go skiing and snowboarding. My mom, sister and I got to snowboard but my dad and little brother who were supposed to go skiing did not a get a chance to ski because my little brother was tired and irritated and cried the whole time there. I met this girl named Victoria and we became friends. I forgot to get her address and phone number so we could keep in contact but that's okay. Hi Victoria!! It was nice meeting you. This was really a fun trip."
