June is Declared PRIDE Month by Obama - Celebrate PRIDE in DC!
This news on June 1, was quickly followed by the news that New Hampshire becomes the sixth US State to legalize Gay Marriage! This is very exciting as the District of Columbia works to pass it's own law through Congress to recognize Gay marriages performed in other states where its legal. This is indeed an exciting time for the IGLFA 2009 tournament to be taking place in US Capital!
The best news is that it is coinciding with Capital Pride 2009 - which is a partner of the IGLFA 2009! Are you planning to arrive early to take part in the activities? If you haven't made your plans yet, don't wait!
On Sat. evening June 13th, all IGLFA 2009 participants will be able to march in the Capital Pride Parade! This should be extremely exciting because the IGLFA 2009 marching participants will be joined by The Batala Washington DC Percussion Band! Batala is an all women percussion band that will add a tremendous amount of excitement to the crowds lining the parade route who will be cheering for the IGLFA 2009 participants. If you would like to participate, the parade is at 6:30PM and we will be meeting at 5:30PM on the parade route. We want to encourage anyone who wants to participate to wear your team jersey or come dressed up in festive attire (we know you Brazilian Drag Stars are itching to bring your attire). Please email Stephen Strasser at stepheniglfa2009@gmail.com for more information, or ask at the registration booth at the host hotel.
Later that evening, the Official 2009 Capital Pride Party will be one not to miss! Starting at 9PM that evening will be The Last Dance which is the first time a Pride Party will be held in an outside venue and at a major DC attraction - The Smithsonian Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Gardens. The event will run till 2AM. We advise that if you want to attend that you purchase your tickets in advance as we are told this event WILL sell out. This promises to a unique event that will be one to remember and experience.
Come celebrate with over 250,000 others in Capital Pride on Sat. June 13th, and then on Sun. June 14th with the Capital Pride Festival!
However, make sure to plan accordingly as registration will be open on Sat. and Sun. There will also be a captains meeting on Sun. June 14th as well as the IGLFA Delegates Meeting - more information on the events will be posted shortly.
We hope you're getting excited, because we sure can't wait to see you!
IGLFA 2009 is very thankful to our many sponsors - who without their support, we would not be able to put on this tournament.
FrontPoint Security Solutions is the leader in next generation, easy installation systems. In a nutshell, FrontPoint systems are safer, better, simpler, and more affordable. They use the latest generation of GE wireless sensors, and build an Alarm.com GSM cellular radio into every FrontPoint system so there is no fear of your phone line being cut by an intruder. FrontPoint also offers unique next-generation features: you can arm and disarm the system remotely, and your system can notify you by text or email on every event happening at home – even when the system is not armed. They even offer wireless IP cameras that you can view remotely, or that can send you 15-second video clips when activated by motion, at no extra charge in our Interactive level of monitoring.
The process is really simple. You place your order on-line, they ship the equipment to you, and in no time you will have your system up and running. When you call in to have FrontPoint activate your system, they check each sensor. You can add to your system any time, or even take the entire system with you when you move – remember, it’s all wireless. Finally, FrontPoint does all this at prices that cannot be beaten. The equipment prices include the cellular radio, and the monthly charges are the lowest you can find for what you get.

Time is ticking....Did You Upload Your Photo Yet??
Tick...Tock! Have you uploaded your photo for registration yet? The deadline to provide us with a photo for your tournament ID badge has arrived. Please upload your photo (passport-style, head and shoulders is best - and preferably recognizable....so please leave those shots of you in drag for your Facebook page.....oh, and please, leave those other photos to Manhunt) by the end of the day Saturday, June 6.
4. On the next screen scroll down to the "upload" button.
5. Click on that and follow the instructions.
We will need some time to assemble the badges in order to have them ready at registration so we need your photos now. At present only about 60% of participants have provided their photos. That means if you didn't provide a photo you will be standing in line with 150 or more people to get your photo taken, processed, and printed; then added to your badge which will then be laminated.
The weekend before the tournament is Pride Weekend in DC, and we know you don't want to be stuck at registration all day long. We know you want to be out and about all weekend - from the Capital Pride Parade to the Pride Festival. You will save an enormous amount of time by providing your photo now.
Please do not delay, and do it today!
