New Bus Route Links Host Hotel with City Hot Spots
The Washington Metro Area Transit Authority recently unveiled a new bus route that links the IGLFA 2009 host hotel, Marriott Wardman Park, with the lively DC neighborhoods of Adams Morgan, Columbia Heights, U Street, and Logan Circle. The route is part of the city's Circulator system that is improving transportation in vital parts of the city. The Circulator stops right outside the hotel at the Woodley Park Metro Station, runs every ten minutes, and costs just $1 (that would be 50 cents to those coming from London). Visit the Circulator website for more information on routes and service hours.
A good number of the city's best restaurants and nightlife options are in Adams Morgan and U Street. The Logan Circle area is a thriving gay neighborhood just east of Dupont Circle, the historic heart of DC's gay community. The Circulator route ends at McPherson Square, which is just a couple of blocks from the White House and walking distance to the National Mall, Penn Quarter, and Chinatown.
"Marriott Wardman Park is already a centrally located and well-connected to almost everywhere you want to go in the city," said Transportation and Accommodations Coordinator Nick Napolitano. "The new Circulator route makes it that much more convenient to stay there."
