Note from the President

Happy 51st Anniversary CALC! I can’t believe it’s been 12 years since I got involved with CALC. My first experience with CALC was with the Tribute to the Chaldean American U.S. Armed Forces. Since then I’ve had hands on experience serving the seniors, youth and needy families in our community. It has been so rewarding be able to assist our community. As the years past, I learned that the women involved in this organization work diligently for the same cause which is to better the community.

Now, I am proud to say that I am the newly elected President for 2012-2014. As the years pass, there will be more work for CALC. If you are not already a member of CALC, please join with us in our vision and mission. It will be one of the most gratifying experiences you will share with us. Everyone has something great to offer this organization and I encourage all women to lend a helping hand. Our achievements would not have been possible without the continuing support of many committed people in the community.

Nadia Atisha Scholarship Recipients:
The CALC is honored to have generous donors such as Nadia Atisha, which help support CALC programs.

Nadia was inspired to start an education fund by her mother Hania Atisha, who was a strong believer in education. Since, Nadia had such a close bond with mother she felt like this was the best way she could do to give back to the community by encouraging high school students to continue their education.

All the recipients and their families were invited to attend the ceremony which was held at the E.C.R.C Center, immediately following the CALC Annual 51st Anniversary Mass.  We are proud to announce the following students as the winning recipients of the Nadia Atisha Scholarship Fund.

Brandon Hanna - Medical Field
Joseph Kirma - Medical Field
Raneen Samona - Occupational Therapist
Sandra Alias - Medical Field
Eveet Basho - Math Teacher
Heidi Kashat - Medical Field
